GatesFX Review

GatesFX was founded in 2014 and has since grown into a broker that now serves more than 306,000 traders around the world. The company is registered in Rodney Bay, Gros Islet, St. Lucia, and is regulated by the FSCA (South Africa) and the FSRA in St. Lucia.

While GatesFX do accept clients from the vast majority of countries around the world, they do list a few restricted jurisdictions (Israel, New Zealand, Iran and North Korea). They do however accept clients from the United States, which is a big plus and makes them one of the limited offshore options still open to US traders today.

GatesFX offers access to 300+ instruments including 67 forex pairs, indices, metals, cryptocurrencies, stock CFDs and energies. Trading is available on MetaTrader 5 (desktop, mobile and web), TradeLocker (powered by TradingView-style charting) and the Match-Trader web terminal. Between the three platforms, most traders will find something familiar to work with, and the layout is simple enough for beginners.

According to the broker, execution is backed by Tier-1 liquidity from more than 20 providers and is routed through 12 servers across 5 different regions. They advertise order processing speeds of under 3 milliseconds, which would suit traders who rely on fast execution or use EAs on MT5.

GatesFX offers three fairly typical account types:

• Deposit Bonus Account - minimum deposit $10, spreads from 0.0 pips, commission $12 per round turn, leverage up to 1:500. Tied to their 100% deposit bonus promotion.
• STP Standard Account - minimum deposit $25, spreads from 1.0 pips, zero commission, leverage up to 1:500.
• ECN Raw Account - minimum deposit $500, spreads from 0.0 pips, $7 per round turn commission, leverage up to 1:1000.

The sign-up and KYC process is relatively quick and uses an automated system with ID upload, proof of address and a short liveness check (selfie). This is becoming more common as brokers move to much quicker digital onboarding. One offering is their loyalty program, where points earned from trading volume can be exchanged for cash or selected prizes.

Deposits and withdrawals can be made through credit/debit cards or a small selection of cryptocurrencies (BTC, ETH, TRX, USDT ERC-20 and USDC ERC-20). While the range of payment methods is less impressive than what many brokers offer, this is likely what allows them to guarantee their “2-hour withdrawal” processing time. The withdrawals are handled automatically and available 24/7, which will be reassuring for traders who prioritise quick access to funds.

On the downside, GatesFX is somewhat light on extra features. They don’t offer VPS hosting, swap-free accounts, or detailed fund safety features such as segregated accounts or negative balance protection. There is also no educational section, which may leave beginners needing to look elsewhere for learning material. Support is available, but language coverage is limited to English.

Overall, GatesFX delivers a straightforward trading setup with fast execution (for many regions), a long operating history, high leverage and simple account choices. The limited payment options and lack of educational resources may put some traders off, but those looking for a lightweight offshore broker that accepts US clients and offers quick withdrawals will find GatesFX a reasonable option.
