BlackBull Markets Review

BlackBull Markets was founded in 2014 in Auckland, New Zealand, and since then has grown into an international broker with access to a wide range of markets. With their head office located in Auckland, New Zealand, the company is regulated by the Financial Markets Authority (FMA) and also holds a licence from the Financial Services Authority (FSA) in Seychelles. From the beginning, BlackBull has tried to provide institutional trading conditions, tools and services in a manner that everyday traders can actually use.

Clients can trade using MetaTrader 4 (MT4), MetaTrader 5 (MT5), TradingView, and cTrader. Between these platforms, BlackBull offers more than 26, 000 instruments, which is much more than most brokers. This covers forex pairs, indices, commodities, metals, energies, futures, shares via BlackBull Invest, and a selection of cryptocurrencies. All the platforms are available via desktop, mobile and web applications. If you prefer social or copy trading, there are several options too, including BlackBull’s own CopyTrader, plus ZuluTrade and Myfxbook AutoTrade.

BlackBull has three main account types:

  • Standard Account: spreads from 0.8 pips, no commission, and no minimum deposit.
  • Prime Account: raw spreads from 0.0 pips, commission of US$3 per side, and a minimum deposit of US$2, 000.
  • Institutional Account: built for high-volume traders, with spreads from 0.0 pips, commission of US$2 per side, and a US$20, 000 minimum deposit.

All accounts come with the choice of leverage of up to 1:500, and swap-free (Islamic) options are also available.

Payments can be made by Visa, Mastercard, Apple Pay, Google Pay, bank transfer, cryptocurrency, Skrill, and Neteller. On the plus side BlackBull doesn’t charge its own deposit fees, and withdrawals are usually processed within one business day. This is a decent mix of bank, card, crypto, and e-wallets will suit most people although some traders might miss having more region-specific payment methods.

For traders who care about performance, BlackBull offers a free VPS for clients with at least US$2, 000 deposited and a minimum of 20 lots traded per month on forex or metals. They also offer FIX API access for those who want direct, low-latency connections - a feature that appeals to algo traders or anyone running automated strategies. Together with the choice of four trading platforms, these extras makes them suitable for both casual traders and those with more advanced needs.

BlackBull tout themselves as having ultra-fast execution speeds, and although we haven’t test it from their VPS servers, we did test their execution speed from our US based server and it was impressive - not the fastest we have seen, but definitely up there. BlackBull has also built out an Education Hub with guides for beginners and advanced traders, webinars, and platform tutorials. On top of that, they publish daily market commentary, trading ideas, and even run a podcast. Though it’s not a replacement for building your own trading plan, it is handy to have analysis and learning resources in one place.

The strongest parts of the BlackBull offering are the massive range of instruments, the ability to choose between four major trading platforms, and the option to trade shares directly via BlackBull Invest alongside CFDs and forex. The added extras - copy trading, VPS hosting, and FIX API - are useful if you want to grow into more advanced setups without changing brokers later.

Another Major benefit is that they have no restrictions on Australian clients and do accept them – which allows Australian traders to escape the clutches of ASIC restrictions and trade with 1:500 leverage.

There are some limits worth mentioning though. BlackBull does not accept clients from the United States, Canada, the UK, or the EU because of local regulations. And while the Standard account has no minimum deposit, the Institutional account requires US$20, 000, which will put it out of reach for many traders.

Overall, BlackBull Markets offers a versatile trading setup which combines wide market coverage and you are spoiled for platform choice. Whether you’re a beginner starting out with a small account, or an experienced trader looking for tools like FIX API and VPS hosting, BlackBull is a strong option for those who want a regulated broker with flexible trading solutions.
